Truly amazing. Boehner has to couch his remarks in not merely saying Limbaugh's remarks are inappropriate, but that any fund-raising off of it is also inappropriate. Two things, "Representative" Boehner... First, Limbaugh's remarks, without ANY qualifications, were not only inappropriate, they should be condemned. Secondly, why would it be "inappropriate" to raise funds off of this offensive "commentator" making yet another asinine statement? If anything, it is ENTIRELY appropriate - funds are needed to overcome this kind of misogynistic garbage, and you know it. If the shoe were on the other foot, you would be all for raising money off of it. But I understand, it is typical of you folks - simply cannot apologize for anything...you always feel this need to qualify your responses, even when it is obvious how wrong you are.
As far as the folks that are making comments in support of Limbaugh, or even promoting that what he said was right. What is wrong with you? What if this woman were your sister or mother? Would it be OK if we made irrational comments regarding her character merely on conjecture? Would you be OK with that? Obviously, this is a rhetorical question, since it is plainly obvious many of you would sacrifice anything for your political beliefs (or what you seemingly THINK are political beliefs...). I see lots of comments on these boards that make snide comments about, say, Maddow, when she and her staff research every item she comments on...when she, or her staff, make a mistake, she apologizes, without qualifications. Or maybe that is what REALLY bothers you. The statements made by the leaders of the Republican Party and many on the Newsvine boards make if plain that apologies are NEVER to be made, no matter how egregious a mistake was made.
Yeah, the level of discourse continues to sink. Are there "liberal" posters on Newsvine that make mistakes? Sure. But the fact remains that many of these are knee-jerk reactions to postings by lurkers and trolls on these boards (many that are paid for it); doesn't excuse it, but it is indicative. If you can't comdemn Rush Limbaugh for yet another unwarranted attack against someone without the forum (or money...) to defend themselves, you are the poorer for it. I'm relatively sure that if a commentator on the left were to make such a remark, they would be roundly criticized for it, not just from the right, but from the left as well.
It's a shame the right can't admit mistakes, their own or others'...or even their country's.
